Elcano's Around the World Tour

To mark 500 years since the first circumnavigation of the world, by Portuguese sailor Magallanes and Spaniard Elcano, Instituto Cervantes has contributed to the edition of La vuelta al mundo de Magallanes-Elcano. To highlight the publication, the historians who have written for the edition will take part in a series of talks. María Luisa Martín, a historian and former director of the Naval Museum of Madrid, will deliver the lecture La primera circunnavegación del mundo (The first circumnavigation of the world) at Instituto Cervantes Manchester, and it will be accompanied by a talk by a local speaker.
