José Almarcha Trio José Almarcha

The Instituto Cervantes in Manchester and Flamenco de Leeds present a concert by the José Almarcha Trio, a musical experience that blends traditional flamenco with elements of jazz in a deeply emotional and conceptual performance.

They aim to evoke different emotional states through various flamenco styles during their performances. José Almarcha describes flamenco as culturally rich, blending Romani, Moorish, and Sephardic Jewish roots, among other influences, reflecting the diversity of peoples in Spain.

José Almarcha, a virtuoso flamenco guitarist and composer from Ciudad Real, Spain, studied at the Córdoba Conservatory of Music and with flamenco masters like Paco Serrano and Niño de Pura.

Demi García Sabat is a versatile percussionist from Barcelona based in London, who studied at the London College of Music. He performs with various flamenco, jazz, Latin, and Arabic groups throughout the UK and Europe.

The third member is flamenco dancer, Magdalena Mannion.
