Energy efficiency, urban architecture and retrofitting: a global matter
GarpeThe "Architecture and sustainable construction" programme of the Instituto Cervantes reflects on how sustainable construction offers an environmentally friendly response to the construction of buildings, without compromising on architectural interest, comfort and interior design. It is, therefore, about optimising natural resources and construction systems that minimise the environmental impact of buildings on the environment and their inhabitants and improve their energy efficiency. The Instituto Cervantes in Manchester will organise the dialogue "Energy efficiency, urban architecture and retrofitting: a global matter" with the participation of the researcher Dr. Carmen Alonso Ruiz-Rivas (CSIC) and Tod Holden, Head of Energy Policy and Programme at the Greater Manchester Combined Authority, moderated by Professor William Swan, Director of Energy House. A conversation that will examine the challenges presented by the construction of buildings to reduce the carbon footprint, achieve zero emissions or tackle energy saving in the 21st century. The event is in collaboration with the Consulate General of Spain in Manchester, the Greater Manchester Combined Authority, the Spanish National Research Council, the University of Salford and the Energy House 2.0 project.
