As part of the Spanish and Latin American Film Festival ¡Viva!, Instituto Cervantes Manchester, in collaboration with the University of Durham, will host part of the ‘Bigas Luna Tribute’: a creation about the famous Spanish film director and artist Bigas Luna who died in 2013.
Santiago Fouz Hernández, a specialist in Bigas Luna’s works from the University of Durham and coordinator of this events in collaboration with Betty Bigas, will present an exhibition of ‘Comedias Bárbaras’, a continuous screening of six short pieces of video art of one and two minutes’ length.
The opening event will include a screening and presentation of BigasxBigas by the director Santiago Garrido Rua, a posthumous documentary based on more than 600 hours of the filmmaker’s video diaries.
