Andrés Neuman in conversation with Mariana Casale

In Andrés Neuman’s superb new novel Fracture (translated by Nick Caistor and Lorenza Garcia), Mr Watanabe is a double hibakusha – a survivor of the atomic bombs dropped in Hiroshima and Nagasaki. When an earthquake triggers the Fukushima nuclear disaster, he begins to think about his life. Watanabe has lived, worked and loved around the world, but has he just been running away from events too traumatic to face? In Fracture Andrés explores trauma, identity, memory, love and our global connections. Andrés’ debut novel Traveller of the Century (translated by Nick Caistor and Lorenza Garcia) won the Alfaguara Prize and the National Critics Prize. He was selected as one of Granta’s Best Young Spanish-Language Novelists and one of the original Bogotá 39. He will be in conversation with Mariana Casale, a specialist in Latin-American literature and bibliotherapy.
