Short video clip One will explore the origins of soccer terminology in Spanish, the processes by which terms have been adapted, and the basic positions and actions. It will also provide a concise analysis of the evolution of terms used to describe soccer in Spanish, including phenomena such as their “Spanishization” and the ideological debates they spark. It will also introduce basic vocabulary related to positions and actions. E.g.: Football, fútbol, balompié; champagne football; positions: goalkeeper, defender, forward; actions: pass, shot, penalty, offside.
