Cultural industries in the age of AI: a legislative policy perspective

Cultural industries in the age of AI: a legislative policy perspective Garrigues Abogados

Spanish-language creation and the cultural industries that support it are being shaken up by generative artificial intelligence (AI). From literature to audiovisual media, music, and the visual arts, the creative process now has access to powerful technological tools, the use of which can reduce the cost of certain production processes, but also affect the protection of works and the rights of creators. In a technological environment dominated by US companies, linguists and academics warn that large language models (LLMs) must also be trained with written and spoken Spanish culture. The aim of the presentation is to address which cultural policies should take precedence in the age of generative AI, what steps the EU has already taken, and what scenarios are emerging from the debates that are taking place today and that will shape the creation of the future.
