What brings people from diverse backgrounds together to revive a medieval legacy? In Elche, Alicante, the Misteri d’Elx endures as the sole surviving example of a genre of medieval theater known as "Mysteries.” Every August, residents from all walks of life become guardians—Templars—of this treasure that reconnects them with an identity and a history spanning centuries. A journey through time that shows how festivals, in this case La Festa, can not only become a UNESCO World Intangible Heritage but also an integral part of who the celebrants are.
