Ezohikoak

Ezohikoak Alejandra Bueno

The work Ezohikoak tells a true story through historical photographs from the beginning of the 20th century in the city of Vitoria-Gasteiz. Throughout the film, the protagonist analyzes the images and what they convey in contrast to her own experience. She generates different reflections that lead her to the conclusion that she does not want to be normal. In all the territories of the Basque Country, society grows believing in the existence of a Basque matriarchy, and assimilating very normative family models. This triggers that the protagonist does not see herself reflected and wants to carry out a historical revision through the photographs to understand what that society was like. Those photographs that have told a normative story, come to life to tell a story of historical women without history, women without matriarchy, other women.
