The Day You Love Me. Gardel's Journey is a medium-length animated film directed by Matías Mera and the first animated film made with generative AI at the University of Buenos Aires.
Ninety years after the death of the iconic tango singer in Medellín, the film pays tribute to one of the most influential Argentine artists of the 20th century through a visual proposal that combines animation and digital aesthetics.
The project uses artificial intelligence to recreate emblematic scenes from the artist's life.
The short film won the Jury Prize for Best Animation at the first edition of the AI Film Festival in Japan, held in 2025. This is the first international festival celebrating AI-driven storytelling. Its goal is to foster innovation, dialogue, and diversity by showcasing creative collaborations between humans and AI.
