Young & Beautiful
Oihana Herrera
Young & Beautiful is a documentary that follows four young people who have decided to live outside the paths pre‑established by society. At a crucial moment in their lives, they begin to question their aspirations and face a future that appears uncertain. Through intimate and honest conversations with the director, Navarrese filmmaker Marina Lameiro, they share doubts, longings, and moments of reflection that together create a sensitive portrait of a generation searching for its own place in the world.
Synopsis:
Poti, Nais, Ione, and Das are young people who have chosen to live on their own terms, but as they approach thirty, they are overwhelmed by a deep unease: they are still far from being the independent, confident, and passionate adults they once dreamed of becoming. While society pushes them to abandon their “selfish” aspirations, each of them revisits their identity through dialogue. This marks the beginning of an intimate exchange between them and Marina, their friend and the director of this film.
Through the closeness of her camera, Marina accompanies them in the most lucid and fragile moments of their everyday lives: dancing, waking up together, walking through beloved landscapes, letting themselves cry and laugh as they search—complicitly—for alternatives to remain true to themselves. Young & Beautiful is a multifaceted portrait of a generation accused of not wanting to grow up; a generation forced to accept a broken world and a country in crisis, where they are told that the only way to survive is to let go of their dreams.
