Tribute to Manuel de Falla - 150 anniversary
Instituto Cervantes
Instituto Cervantes is collaborating in a musical tribute to the Spanish composer Manuel de Falla on the occasion of the 150th anniversary of his birth.
Curated by Ricardo Gosalbo, the program includes vocal works by Falla himself, as well as pieces by other composers and contemporary writers who were part of his closest circle of friends, collaborators, teachers, and students. Among them are Rafael Alberti, Claude Debussy, Federico García Lorca, Carlos Guastavino, Rodolfo Halffter, María de la O Lejárraga, Frederic Mompou, Xavier Montsalvatge, Francis Poulenc, Maurice Ravel, Joaquín Turina, and Rogelio Villar. These illustrious names gathered here demonstrate not only the great admiration and esteem Falla enjoyed, but also the central place he occupied in the cultural landscape of his time.
The event is free of charge and no booking is required.
