Tornapiel

Tornapiel IC

Instituto Cervantes in London is collaborating with the Cooke Latham Gallery to promote the exhibition ‘Tornapiel’ by artist Blanca Gracia.

The word ‘Tornapiel’ is a Spanish reinterpretation of the Latin “versipellis”, which means ‘shape-shifter’, but is more literally translated as ‘skin change’. Continuing her exploration of the “monstrous” female body, Gracia explores the boundaries between the interior and the exterior, creating an internal landscape, a uterine cosmology through which she explores and challenges female archetypes.

Her recent solo and group exhibitions include Prats Nogueras Blanchard (2025), Spanish Academy in Rome (2025), Fabra i Coats (2024); MUSE (2024); Casal Solleric (2024), Kottinspektionen (2023); Casa de Iberoamérica (2023); Sala de Arte Joven, Madrid (2022); Twin Gallery, Madrid (2020); Ciudadela de Pamplona (2020); Naves del Matadero, Madrid; Centro Parraga, Murcia (both in 2019); ArcoMadrid (2018); Centro de Arte de Alcobendas, Madrid (2016); Bombon Projects, Barcelona (2018); La Casa Encendida, Madrid (2017).
