Instituto Cervantes Londres is collaborating in the promotion of Solera, the show by Paco Peña that will be performed at Sadler’s Wells dance theatre.
Solera, the latest creation by flamenco master Paco Peña, is a vibrant encounter between generations. Inspired by the winemaking technique in which young wines are blended with older ones to reach their fullest expression, the piece brings together the energy of young dancers and musicians with the artistry of seasoned performers.
The result is a journey that begins in the intimate atmosphere of a rehearsal space and culminates in a powerful tablao‑style performance, where guitars, singing, and dance engage in a dialogue filled with emotion and authenticity.
Solera celebrates the transmission of flamenco, revealing how tradition and innovation coexist to keep this ever‑evolving art form alive.
Paco Peña (Córdoba, 1942) is one of the most internationally renowned flamenco guitarists and composers. After beginning his career in Spain, he moved to the United Kingdom in the 1960s, where he consolidated his artistic trajectory and became a global reference in flamenco. Throughout his career, Peña has stood out not only as a soloist, but also as the founder and director of the Paco Peña Flamenco Dance Company, with which he has brought flamenco to major international theatres. His work combines deep respect for tradition with a contemporary sensibility, and he has frequently collaborated with performers from different generations, demonstrating how flamenco continues to evolve without losing its essence.
