Quo Vadis, Hispania? Winston Churchill and the Spanish Civil War

For almost three years, between July 1936 and April 1939, Spain and its role in the unstable European scenario that preceded the Second World War were for Winston Churchill (1874-1965) a constant focus of attention and growing concern. This lecture will examine the close relationship between a decisive historical protagonist of those critical years of the 20th century and the disturbing future of a country that was key to British imperial security within the framework of a Europe on the verge of a new total war.
