Instituto Cervantes is collaborating in the tribute to the great London‑based guitarist and percussionist Pablo Domínguez, originally from Cádiz, together with his fellow musicians, friends, and family.
Iberian Colours is a quintet project born from a multi‑genre collaboration among Spanish musicians seeking to bring into classical chamber music the inspiration drawn from the vivid colours, rhythms, and textures of Spanish art and musical traditions. The award‑winning guitarist (Maria Camahort), the soprano (Laura Ruhí‑Vidal), the cellist (Sergio Serra), the violinist (Violeta García), and the percussion of Pablo Domínguez (performed here by Demi García Sabat) come together to create something full of charisma and personality.
Javier Ruibal, an exceptional singer‑songwriter, composer, poet, and writer—recipient of the 2017 National Prize for Contemporary Music—long‑time collaborator and neighbour of Pablo, and a performer at venues such as Ronnie Scott’s, WOMAD, and Union Chapel, will offer us his magnificent voice and guitar, alongside his poetry, melodies, and deeply moving lyricism.
Our special guest, Chano Domínguez, Pablo’s father, is a highly acclaimed and widely awarded composer and pianist who brings a fusion of jazz and flamenco to his renowned and innovative performance style.
Pablo Domínguez was born in Cádiz, Spain. Raised in a profoundly musical environment in his hometown, El Puerto de Santa María, he was surrounded by sound and rhythm from a very young age. Although he later formalised his studies in both London and Barcelona, his early musical development was largely self‑taught. Moving fluidly between genres—from flamenco and jazz to various world‑music traditions, including the music of Rajasthan—his career was marked by a spirit of exploration and collaboration.
On 3 February 2025, Pablo Domínguez passed away following a serious illness. One year later, his presence is still deeply felt in Spain, here in the United Kingdom, and around the world.
This concert is presented as a tribute to his genuine spirit and his unique musical voice. City Hope Church is the venue where he performed the last of his seven concerts with Tuned In London.
