Women in Combat: Democracy and Feminism in the Final Decade of Franco's Dictatorship (1965-1975)
This project seeks to research, recover and compile printed, oral and audiovisual material that gives visibility to feminism and its contributions to democracy in Spanish society during the period 1965-1975. Special attention is paid to the cultural and artistic manifestations that reflected these feminist movements. The round table will include Julia Pérez Correa, coordinator of the project and member of El Club de las 25, Dr Ana Baeza Ruiz, Research Associate at Loughborough University, Irene Barreno García, researcher for the project and pre-doctoral fellow at the Institute of History at the Spanish National Research Council (CSIC), Dr Abigail Loxham, expert in Spanish feminism and Senior Lecturer at the University of Liverpool, and Nuria Capdevila-Argüelles, Professor of Hispanic Studies and Gender Studies at the University of Exeter. The event will be opened by the Ambassador of Spain to the United Kingdom and Northern Ireland, His Excellency José Pascual Marco, and will be closed by the Director of Instituto Cervantes London, Víctor Ugarte Farrerons. Isabel Mastrodoménico, Director of the Communication and Gender Agency and member of El Club de las 25, will moderate the discussion.
