Mariana Enríquez in Conversation with A. K. Blakemore
Instituto Cervantes in London is collaborating with Foyles bookshop in Charing Cross to organise an event with author Mariana Enríquez, who will present the English translation of her book Alguien camina sobre tu tumba (Someone is walking on your grave). The event will consist of a conversation between Mariana Enríquez and British writer Amy Katrina Blakemore. Synopsis of the book: This book brings together a series of very particular chronicles of travels around the world. The author travels across countries and continents to visit something very specific and perhaps unusual: cemeteries. These pages feature famous cemeteries steeped in history, such as Montparnasse in Paris, Highgate in London and the Jewish cemetery in Prague, as well as other hidden, decrepit, remote or secretly beautiful ones. There are the graves of famous people – Elvis in Memphis, Marx in London... extravagant epitaphs, mournful sculptures, sensual angels, traces of voodoo in New Orleans, romantic writers, Gothic crypts, catacombs, skeletons, vampires, ghosts and an endless string of legends and stories: the poet buried standing up, the tomb of the faithful horse, the flooded cemetery...
