Mariachi Mexteca

As part of Spanish Language Day, Día E, which we celebrate simultaneously at all the Instituto Cervantes centres worldwide on June 19, we have arranged the following activity: Mariachi Mexteca.The Director of Mariachi Mexteca, Salvador Jimenez Hernandez was born in the large and bustling city of Guadalajara, Jalisco, Mexico, the birth place of the Mariachi.In  the year 2000 he moved to the UK taking his talent and music with him where he currently plays in his Mariachi band. Salvador is the lead vocalist and plays several instruments including the guitarron, vihuela, guitar and accordion. The other band members are experienced professional musicians from Mexico and other Latino American countries, all of whom have strong Mariachi backgrounds coming from families of Mariachi Musicians. Devoted to their music, they carry with them wherever they go, the vibrant, colourful and cheerful sound of the Mariachi music to all their audiences. Mariachi Mexteca was formed in 2002 in London.
