Luar na Lubre in concert Luar na Lubre

Luar na Lubre are one of the reference bands of folk and traditional music of Galicia. Considering Galicia as a fundamental point of its work, the band understands that music is one of the most important cultural factors and Galician culture predominates in their music although it does not reject influences that improve its proposal without deturping the central character of its project.

The musical project is based fundamentally on the music of Galician roots, for which they devote particular attention to the study of the main Galician songbooks as well as to the field work that provides them with a deep knowledge about the Galician musical reality that has been revealed as determinant in their own compositions. Nowadays it is the most international folk band in Galicia, so from Palestine to Canada or from Argentina to Germany, they traveled a good part of the planet taking the music and the culture of Galicia through their proposal.

In 1992 they met the British musician Mike Oldfield for whom they offered a private concert in a well-known Coruña theater. From that improvised concert came a friendship that still lasts and that resulted in a relationship that led Mike to make a version of "O son do ar" by Bieito Romero. This was decisive in the career of Luar Na Lubre being a great boost to their proposal that was reinforced when Mike himself invited them in 1999 to make the "Then & Now" tour through different cities of the state with great success, confirming as a band "revelation".
