Ciclo Ellas Flamencas - Lela Soto
Instituto Cervantes is collaborating in the twentieth edition of the Flamenco Festival to be held from 27 May to 8 June 2025, with an exceptional programme in venues such as Sadler's Wells Theatre, Lilian Baylis Studio, Sadler's Wells East, Kings Place and Jazz Café. In this edition, the festival will feature 17 companies and a total of 25 performances by some of the most important artists on the current flamenco scene, both in dance and in vocals and guitar. El fuego que llevo dentro is the debut album by cantaora Lela Soto. This performance is a powerful tribute to the ancestral legacy of flamenco, passed down from generation to generation by her iconic family, which includes legendary figures such as Manuel Soto Sordera, Vicente Soto Sordera, Sorderita, Ray Heredia, La Pompi, El Gloria and María Bala. In this deeply personal project, Lela Soto perpetuates her family's rich heritage, fusing it with her own voice and vision, while ensuring the vibrant evolution of flamenco. The show highlights the profound influence of the women in her family, whose teachings have shaped her art, though their contributions have often remained in the background. The performance delves into themes of love, loss and emotional intensity, exploring the darkest shadows of relationships where not even love itself can heal all wounds. With an innovative approach to traditional forms and original compositions created specifically for this work, El fuego que llega dentro offers an immersive and raw experience of flamenco at its most daring and authentic.
