Perplexed Ants

Perplexed Ants Pedro Perles

Perplexed Ants may be Mercedes Moncada’s most realistic work, although her poetic constants are still present. It is an approach to a specific conflict (several workers’ protests that took place in the Bay of Cádiz) that ends up offering a global reflection on today’s labor struggle within an ultracapitalist framework.

Synopsis:
The ghost of closure looms over an aircraft factory. Meanwhile, its workers—both men and women—discover with astonishment that their greatest threat is the loss of direct jobs and of their labor security. They know what the future holds for them because they have already seen it: the subcontracting labor model has been impacting the bodies, souls, and lives of the people working in the shipyards of this bay for decades.
