Cervantes Institute, in collaboration with the Embassy of Guatemala in the United Kingdom, pays tribute to Miguel Ángel Asturias, the Guatemalan writer awarded the Nobel Prize in Literature, whose work built bridges between indigenous heritage and universal literature.
Celebrated for works such as El Señor Presidente and Hombres de maíz, Asturias gave voice to social justice and cultural identity, receiving the Nobel Prize in 1967. This tribute honors his legacy as a poet, diplomat, and novelist, whose words continue to inspire readers around the world.
Through his writing, Asturias transformed memory and myth into powerful narratives that resonate across generations.
Juan Toledo will deliver a lecture on the life, work, and significance of the Guatemalan author’s literary legacy.
