Instituto Cervantes is collaborating with the 2026 edition of the Hay Festival, which will take place in Hay-on-Wye from 21 to 31 May 2026, and will once again feature a strong Spanish presence within its literary and ideas programme.
In a year in which the festival is preparing more than 600 events and reaffirming its status as one of the world’s leading international gatherings devoted to books and ideas, the participation of Spanish voices will contribute to broadening the cultural dialogues that define this space of global exchange.
Spanish representation will include conversations with authors working both in Spain and abroad, presentations of new publications in Spanish, and round-table discussions focusing on topics such as new Hispanic narratives, the intersection of literature and memory, and the international projection of Spanish cinema and culture. The festival—described as a “Woodstock of the mind” and firmly established as a global benchmark—offers an exceptional platform for Spanish literature to engage in dialogue with writers from around the world, fostering connections, readings and debates that transcend borders.
The authors taking part in this year’s edition will be Brenda Navarro, Mónica Ojeda and Las Hijas de Felipe.
