Cervantes Institute is collaborating with Kilimanjaro Live on the presentation of the album Spanish Leather by the artist Guitarricadelafuente in London, the city where it is being released.
Spanish Leather is the second studio album by Spanish artist Guitarricadelafuente.
It was released on 16 May 2025 through Sony Music. Produced by Carter Lang, Rodaidh McDonald, pablopablo and Raül Refree, it is Lafuente's first album since the release of his debut album La cantera (2022) and Caramullo (2022).
Álvaro Lafuente Calvo (Benicasim, 27 August 1997), known artistically as Guitarricadelafuente, is a Spanish singer-songwriter and guitarist based in Barcelona. He began sharing covers of songs on social media such as Instagram in 2017. His style combines elements of indie folk, rumba and flamenco.
In April 2018, Lafuente released his first original composition, ‘Conticinio,’ recorded at home with a PlayStation microphone. Later, in October 2018, he released his first single, ‘Guantanamera,’ which reached number 69 on PROMUSICAE's Top 100 Songs chart.
Later, he went on a small tour of several Spanish cities. In June 2019, he collaborated with Operación Triunfo contestant Natalia Lacunza on her debut single, ‘Nana triste’, which reached number four on the Spanish singles chart. Following this success, he continued to release singles independently. Together with Sony Music, he has released two studio albums: La cantera (2022) and Spanish leather (2025). With Sony Music, he also released an EP in 2022, entitled Caramullo. Internationally, she has collaborated twice with Australian artist Troye Sivan, the first time on the song ‘In my room’ in 2023, and the second time in 2025 on a remix of ‘Pipe dream’.
Throughout his career, he has received two Latin Grammy Award nominations, in 2023 for ‘A carta cabal’ and in 2025 for ‘Full time papi’, both in the Best Short Form Music Video category. He also received a nomination for Artist of the Year at the 2024 Academy of Music Awards. Apart from his musical career, Lafuente will make his big screen debut in the film adaptation of La bola negra, alongside Penélope Cruz, Miguel Bernardeau, and Carlos González.
