Guitarrisimo: Morgan Szymanski, The Mexican Guitar
London’s new guitar classical series, Guitarrísimo, celebrates the Latin roots of the guitar with a recital by Morgan Szymanski.
Widely considered the greatest Mexican guitarist of his generation, Szymanski is also a passionate ambassador for the classical guitar repertoire of his homeland. In this recital he explores various facets of the Mexican guitar canon, ranging from the contemporary sound worlds of Julio César Oliva and his exuberant evocations of Mexican landscapes, to more cosmopolitan Works by Mexican-Italian composer, Simone Iannarelli, and, of course, an indispensable selection of lush, romantic songs by the seminal Mexican composer, Manuel M. Ponce, transcribed by Segovia.
