The Jump

The choreographer and dancer Jesús Carmona presents the premier of his show “The Jump”, which he initiated during an artist in residence programme at the 2019 Festival. This show explores art’s ability to affect personal growth, as Carmona looks at his own journey around masculinity in the 21st century. Jesús Carmona was born in Badalona in 1985 and started his education in flamenco aged 7. Later, he completed an undergraduate degree in Spanish Dance and Flamenco at the Theatre and Dance Institute in Barcelona in 2003. In 2006, he joined the Spanish National Ballet, where he became First Dancer. After a few years, he decided to create the Compañía de Danza Jesús Carmona with which he produced shows such as “Cuna Negra y Blanca” (2012), “7 Balcones” (2013), “Impetu’s” (2015), “Equilibrio” (2017), “Amatør” (2018), “El Salto” (2020) and “Baile de Bestias” (2021).
