We celebrate the first Spanish Cinema Day with the screening of "El viaje a ninguna parte" ("The Trip to Nowhere"). This is an excellent film directed and written by Fernando Fernán-Gómez, director and essential actor in Spanish cinematography, which addresses the history of a theatre company during a tour in small towns and villages, at a time when cinema is beginning to dominate the leisure of Spaniards from the countryside and the city. It is a heartfelt tribute to the world of travelling actors since time immemorial. Synopsis: A former comedian already retired in an asylum, Carlos Galván, recalls before a psychologist the old days of being an actor of the league in a small theatre company, the Iniesta-Galván, under the direction of his father, Mr Arturo Galván. It was not a company of bells, but a modest family group that toured the small Castilian cities and towns in the postwar years, with a simple repertoire of comedies that they performed on an improvised stage.
