European Day of Languages 2026 Instituto Cervantes

Instituto Cervantes London Library, in collaboration with Europa House, and to mark Europe Day on 5 May, presents the following activities organised jointly with the Cultural Department:

15:00 – 16:00: Students from schools in London and surrounding areas

  • An interactive activity with a map of Spain, where students will guess where each typical Spanish dish comes from.
  • A mini theatre quiz using props about celebrations in Spain.
  • Goodie bags and information leaflets will be distributed.

16:00 – 17:00: University students and press

  • Students will perform a short excerpt featuring Don Quixote and Sancho, and their acting skills will be evaluated.
  • An activity in which participants will guess the meaning of Spanish sayings, matching the Spanish expression with its English equivalent.
  • Goodie bags and information leaflets will be distributed.

17:00 – 18:00: Associations of EU citizens in the United Kingdom, interested institutions based in the UK, and members of the general public interested in Europe

Copies of the magazine “The Riveter” will be distributed, and books of Spanish literature will be given away, together with leaflets containing information about our courses, workshops and library membership.

18:00 – 19:00: Mini classical music concert.
