World Flamenco Congress

World Flamenco Congress Instituto Cervantes

This programme aims to promote flamenco in its broadest sense, understood not only as an artistic showcase but also as a space for reflection and critical thinking through lectures, roundtable discussions with local specialists, and training workshops.

The Congress seeks to consolidate and raise the quality of the Instituto Cervantes’ flamenco programming by bringing together emerging and established artists, dance and movement proposals, and themes and projects aligned with major international festivals and leading venues on the global circuit.

Over the course of its editions, it has established itself as a global benchmark, attracting academics, artists, and enthusiasts from all corners of the world. At each location, the Congress adapts to the cultural and social specificities of the host city, creating a unique and enriching exchange. In addition, the Congress is committed to innovation and sustainability, incorporating new technologies and environmentally responsible practices into its organisation.

This not only modernises the ways in which flamenco is presented but also underscores the relevance of this art form in a contemporary global context. In summary, this Congress is a worldwide celebration that, through its diverse programming and inclusive approach, reaffirms the vitality and universality of flamenco, ensuring its transmission and evolution for new generations around the world.
