Annual Joanot Martorell Lecture on Art and Catalan Culture with Rhiannon McGlade

Come with us to the lecture titled “The Irascible Ink: Satire and Subversion in Catalan Feminist Comic Art” with Dr Rhiannon McGlade, Lecturer in Hispanic Studies at the University of Strathclyde. This event, organised by Instituto Cervantes London and the Centre for Catalan Studies at Queen Mary University of London, is part of the prestigious annual Joanot Martorell Lecture.
Dr McGlade is a recognised expert, author of Catalan Cartoons: A Cultural and Political History and co-editor of key projects on dissidence and identity in Spanish visual media. Her current book project, In Visible Ink: Gender, Sexual Dissidence and Visual Print Media in Spain’s Transition (1968-1992), promises to be an eye-opener on gender and sexual dissidence in Spain’s democratic transition.
After the lecture, there will be a Q&A session, giving you the chance to interact directly with the speaker.
