Cita con el cine. "La voluntaria"

The Cita con el cine virtual film club is bringing its 2024 programme to a close with La voluntaria, a film directed by Nely Reguera. 

This is the second feature film by the Spanish director following the critically acclaimed María (y los demás). Reguera’s most recent film deals with the delicate subject of refugee camps in Europe and, through the film’s main character, encourages viewers to reflect on the limits of commitment.

Synopsis: Marisa, a recently retired doctor, decides to volunteer at a Greek refugee camp, where it seems they need people just like her. Once she arrives, it becomes evident that she is different to the others and, when she meets little Ahmed, the lines between the need to care and feel useful begin to fade.

The activity is moderated by Instituto Cervantes staff, who will be joined by specialists involved in the production of the films including filmmakers and scriptwriters. Enjoy cinema in Spanish!
