Peruvian Film Club IC

The Embassy of Peru in the United Kingdom, together with the Instituto Cervantes, presents a new edition of the Peruvian Film Club, a space dedicated to showcasing the creativity, diversity, and talent of Peruvian cinema.

The two films in this cycle explore identity, memory, and the human experience through powerful narratives.

The films are:
“Reinas” (2024), directed by Klaudia Reynicke, follows two sisters, Aurora and Lucía, as they prepare to leave Lima and start a new life abroad in the early 1990s. Their estranged father reappears, seeking to reconnect before their departure. Set against a backdrop of political and social unrest, the film portrays the complexities of family, migration, and coming of age in uncertain times.

“Kinra” (2024), directed by Marco Panatonic, tells the story of Atoqcha, a young man torn between his rural Andean roots and his life as a university student in Cusco. His journey reveals the emotional tension between tradition and modernity, the sense of belonging, and transformation.

Both films offer a moving reflection on contemporary Peru—its people, its landscapes, and the intimate stories that shape a nation.
