Cafe OTO x Cervantes

Cafe OTO x Cervantes Instituto Cervantes

Instituto Cervantes Londres in collaboration with Café OTO, presents a programme dedicated to Spanish experimental music that brings into dialogue some of the most innovative voices on the current scene. Drawing on the sonic radicalism of Al Karpenter, the electroacoustic explorations of Debit, and the irreverent, playful approach of Agnès Pe, the series offers a journey through practices that transcend genres and challenge traditional forms of musical creation.

The proposals of these artists —ranging from the collision of noise rock and free jazz to the technological reinterpretation of Indigenous archives or the deconstruction of pop materials— outline a diverse and deeply contemporary map of sound experimentation connected to Hispanic contexts. Through concerts, the programme reinforces the commitment of the Instituto Cervantes and Café OTO to supporting bold artistic languages and fostering cultural bridges between Spain, Latin America, and the United Kingdom.

This initiative turns London into a meeting point for musical practices that resist classification and expand the limits of the audible, celebrating both the avant‑garde tradition and the new forms of innovation shaping today’s scene.

Café OTO
Café OTO is an iconic venue for experimental music and new sonic practices located in the Dalston district of East London. Founded in 2008, the space combines a café and a concert hall, offering a daily programme dedicated to music outside the commercial circuit—from free jazz and improvisation to noise, electronics, and cross‑disciplinary proposals. Its 150‑capacity room has become an international gathering point for artists and audiences interested in sonic experimentation and has been described as one of the most influential centres for avant‑garde music in the city.
