Antojología
In Nicaragua lived the singular Carl Rigby. A free poet who invents words at his whim while timelessly strolling through his memories and history, oscillating between social denunciation and dialogue with the Afro-descendant tradition and history of Central America. The film is the product of two years of conversations, poems, monologues, and performances recorded at his home, studio, or during our strolls through the Old Managua or his native, Pearl Lagoon, in Nicaragua’s South Caribbean. An attempt to capture and recover the unique discourse of this creator of words, sounds and concepts. Delving into Rigby’s poetry, reveals to us the wondrous voice of someone who, we feel, must be known and remembered for making his life a poetic existence. The documentary "Antojología de Carl Rigby" has been presented at international festivals such as the Cartagena International Film Festival 2019; X International Film Festival Memory, Truth and Justice of Guatemala, International Film Festival of Belize; the Festival of New Latin American Cinema in Cuba 2019; the Rome Scoprir Ibero-American Film Festival and the Trieste Latin American Film Festival.
