Angelita Montoya: "Versos Olvidados", tribute to female poets of the "Generación del 27"
Perhaps there has not been in the history of Spain such an interesting, participatory and advantageous moment for women as it began in the late nineteenth century, having its peak in the years of the Second Republic and that would be biased by the civil war . In the years in which the men of the Generation of '27 published their poems, the women also did it. Years later, their verses were forgotten in a world of men. Angelita Montoya pays tribute to all these poets of the Generation of '27, the forgotten ones, who despite having received recognition then, today find themselves in oblivion. On her first solo album, the great cantaora Angelita Montoya, wrapped in the music of Alejandro Cruz Benavides. She recovers poems by Concha Méndez, Gloria de la Prada, María Teresa Roca de Togares, Casilda by Antón del Olmet, Josefa Pardo by Figueroa, Ana María Martínez Sagi and Cristina de Arteaga. Zenobia Camprubí and Carolina Valencia.
Angelita Montoya (Seville, 1971) comes from one of the gypsy families with the greatest flamenco tradition, the Montoya. Since she debuted at nine years old in the flamenco play Nuevo Día, directed by Lole and Manuel, the artist has not stopped acting accompanied by her family. A precious baggage in front of this new solo challenge, in which the artist explores new musical and scenic records.
