Cita con el cine: «María Casares. La mujer que vivió mil vidas»
The second session of this year's Cita con el cine virtual club is dedicated to the documentary Bidasoa, 2018-2023, directed by the singer, producer and now film director Fermín Muguruza.
The film, which combines animation with words, tells the heartbreaking story hidden in the Bidasoa River, a painful testimony of the sleeping voices of migrants who tried to find a dignified life elsewhere and were unable to do so.
Synopsis
The police control and closure of some border crossings on the natural Pyrenean-Atlantic border of the Bidasoa, imposed by France in the summer of 2018, to prevent the entry of migrants in transit to other European countries, caused ten deaths in one year. Seven people drowned in the waters of the Bidasoa river between Irun and Hendaye since April 2021, and another three lost their lives in October 2021, run over by a train in Ziburu.
