Agustina Muñoz, an Argentine actress of Galician origin, visits her family in a Galician village near the Portuguese border. Staying in the house where her grandmother spent her childhood, she uses the time to rehearse the Portuguese text of The Tempest by William Shakespeare, as she has been invited by a theatre company to perform the play on an island in the Azores archipelago. She travels there by boat, but upon arrival, she finds no trace of the company, nor anyone on the island who seems to know anything about the performance. Alone and puzzled, she begins to investigate what might have happened. Gradually, as she immerses herself in the reality of the Azores and discovers the magic of the place and its people, her curiosity about the island grows, and she forgets what originally brought her there.
