Los santos inocentes (The Holy Innocents)
Mario CamusThe adaptation of Miguel Delibes' novel of the same name is one of the outstanding examples of the cinematographic policies of the eighties, which sought new readings on the eternal dialogue between cinema and literature in order to highlight the main themes and concerns of Spanish culture. The Mario Camus film had an immediate endorsement at the Cannes Festival, with the ex aequo award for the two main actors, Alfredo Landa and Paco Rabal. The story of the family of Paco "el Bajo", who lives in a farmhouse in Extremadura, still shudders as a story of a rural, inherited and wild Spain, which is not so far back in time, unfortunately.
