Los peces rojos (The Red Fish)
Los peces rojos (The Red Fish, Jose Antonio Nieves Conde, 1955) is possibly the best example of Spanish detective cinema. It is an atypical thriller, devoid of violence or action, but loaded with suspense. It is part psychological drama and part suspense, created by a deadly triangle between an offbeat son, a showgirl with big dreams, and a man who can be either cold and calculating or overwhelmingly passionate.
