Hispania in Britain
Spain and Britain were both important parts of the Western Roman Empire, but they are rarely considered together. This talk looks at the impact Spaniards had on Roman Britain. It begins with the Spanish-born Emperors Hadrian and Magnus Maximus, but also looks at more lowly men and women who made their way from Spain to Britain in the Roman period. We will also look at Roman tapas, including the notorious rotted fish sauce (garum).
