Guacamayo Tropical Dj's Session Guacamayo tropical

One of the objectives of the Instituto Cervantes is to publicise and promote Spanish and Latin American musical culture by showing the large variety of new styles and innovative trends.

In this instance, the Instituto Cervantes in Leeds is intending to make an impression as well as bringing to the diverse student population and young people of Leeds a fun event: a free party for members of the public directed by the Colombian DJs Guacamayo Tropical.

The unique performance by the Colombian DJs Andres Ramirez and David Echeverria promises to be a musical and cultural event, potentially aimed at young people, both from the UK and other parts of the world, as well as being of interest to the large Hispanic community in Leeds and Yorkshire.

Motivated by their passion for music, life and rhythm, Guacamayo are part of a tropical movement coming from Latin America.  In their case after investigating the roots of tropical music, they experimented with popular Latin songs of the last century and using modern rhythms have created a fusion which is both innovative and ground breaking.
