Flamenco A Tres
The Instituto Cervantes and Flamenco de Leeds presents Flamenco A Tres, with the participation of Paco Jimeno, Ana Fargas and Carmen González. Paco Javier Jimeno will offer a flamenco guitar concert with his new compositions. These will be included in what will be his second album. The concert will be composed of two parts, one of concert guitar with pieces already published in his previous work and a selection of everything new. The second part will feature the accompanying guitar. It is here where "Flamenco a Tres" appears, singer and dancer who will be accompanied by the Maestro. The audience will be able to enjoy the mastery of their accompaniment and the contributions and styles of each of them. They will delight us with a dynamic and flamenco show where each artist will reflect their particular way of feeling flamenco. PACO JAVIER JIMENO is to be praised because, despite his youth, he has a track record that very few can boast. He is one of the most awarded flamenco guitarists today. In his showcases he has the most important awards that recognise the best: "El Madroñero" Award in Montellano (Seville), First Prize in the II Concurso de Jóvenes Intérpretes Flamencos de la Bienal de Flamenco (Seville), First Prize in the International Flamenco Guitar Competition in Nimes (France), "Manolo de Huelva" Prize in the XIV Concurso Nacional de Córdoba and "Bordón Minero" Prize in the XXXV Festival Nacional del Cante de las Minas (National Festival of Cante de las Minas). His first creations appear in the CD "A la guitarra Estepona" (1994) in which we find two of his own songs: "Mar de Levante" and "Mi guitarra". Alone on the stage or in the company of singing or dancing, he is a spectacular guitarist, with a refined and exquisite technique that he puts at the service of himself and the artists he accompanies. In full artistic maturity, he has grown a lot as a musician and is achieving unique forms based on expression and on his exciting capacity for transmission, qualities that make him an artist with a marked personality, as, drinking from the best sources, he has consolidated a flamenco aesthetic that makes him different from the rest. Today, as in the past, the world of flamenco guitar is difficult, but playing with personality helps to be recognised by the majority. "EN TIEMPO Y FORMA" is his first solo album. The whole work is of an unusual musical beauty for its plasticity and charm. For its flamenco forcefulness and its musical roundness. In it, the warm pride of the old wood, the guitar of Paco Javier Jimeno, gives us new music, a new way of reinterpreting it, in which he plays with form and time, with rhythm and harmony, to offer a personal concept, different, therefore, from flamenco music. This is the hallmark of one of the best guitarists of his generation".
For this concert, he will be surrounded by two unique young artists from Malaga with great personality in each of their facets. Ana Fargas cantaora and Carmen González bailaora will add a feminine touch to the guitar of Maestro Paco Javier Jimeno.
