Dos Fridas (Two Fridas), introduced by Professor Duncan Wheeler
The Embassy of Costa Rica in the United Kingdom, the Language Centre from the University of Bradford and the Instituto Cervantes in Leeds will present, within the framework of the Hispanic Cultural Day that the university celebrates, the Costa Rican feature film Dos Fridas (Two Fridas, 2018), by director Ishtar Yasin.
Dos Fridas is inspired by the relationship between Mexican painter Frida Kahlo and her Costa Rican nurse Judith Ferreto - Judith cared for Frida during the final years of her life. In her memories, Frida was cared for by Judith in her Azul (Blue) house in México. As a mirror, Judith was cared for by a woman in Costa Rica. In Judith's inner world, reveries, myths, imagination and reality intertwine.
The film will be presented in English by the academic film specialist Duncan Wheeler, Professor from the University of Leeds.
