Luma Quartet Concert

Luma Quartet Concert As part of Leeds City of Languages, presented by Instituto Cervantes Leeds in collaboration with the University of Leeds.

Grupo Luma, led by Chilean brothers Francisco and Oscar Carrasco, is a six-piece ensemble whose music is deeply rooted in the rich heritage of Latin America. Their repertoire includes both original compositions and cherished classics, taking the audience on an unforgettable journey through the landscapes of Chile, Argentina, Peru, and beyond.

The group’s instrumentation is as diverse as its influences, featuring the Andean charango and quena, the Venezuelan cuatro, the Peruvian cajón, the Argentinian bombo, trumpet, saxophone, flute, drums, guitar, and bass. This kaleidoscope of sounds captures the richness and vitality of the region’s music, creating an immersive experience for every listener.

Alongside the Carrasco brothers, the ensemble includes exceptional musicians such as Erik Bichard and Max Alder, who together bring the heart of Latin American music to life, blending tradition with contemporary sounds to create something entirely unique.
