The voyage begins, we settle ourselves comfortably, and some of the festival’s guest authors prepare fragments from their works to read to us, in English and Spanish, as we set sail on this special journey. Do you know their stories? Come and listen.

Artist's biographies:

John Banville is an Irish novelist, screenwriter, playwright and book reviewer. . His novels include the recently published April in Spain and the forth coming The Singularities. He was awarded the Man Booker Prize and the Prince of Asturias Award. 

Nuria Barrios is a writer, translator and Doctor of Philosphy. She has published poetry, novels and essays, and her short stories are present in numerous anthologies. She is the Spanish translator of the Irish novelist John Banville/Benjamin Black. Her last book, La impostora, an essay on translation, has been awarded with the Premio Málaga de Ensayo.

Cristina Bendek is a Caribbean fiction writer and journalist. Her first novel, Los cristales de la sal (Salt Crystals), has been translated into many different languages, English among others. John Banville is an Irish novelist, screenwriter, playwright and book reviewer. 

Moya Cannon is an Irish poet and member of the Irish association of artists Aosdána with a large profesional career. Her first book, Oar, was published in 1990. She published Collected Poems in 2021.

Alonso Cueto is a Peruvian writer, author of twenty books, including novels, essays and short stories. It has been translated into sixteen languages. In English has published The Wind Traveler and The Blue Hour. Three of his novels have been adapted for film.

Cristín Leach is a writer and The Sunday Times Ireland’s longest serving art critic. She is also broadcaster, whose short fiction and personal essays have been published in many different platforms. Her first book is the memoir Negative Space.

Jordi Soler is a Mexican author of then novels, translated into several languages. He has published books of short stories, essays and poetry, and also writes articles for newspapers and magazines. He was a diplomat in Ireland and currently lives in Barcelona. His last published book is Los hijos del volcán.
