We kick off the ISLA festival with an interview with an essential figure of contemporary literature, recipient of prestigious awards: Eduardo Mendoza (Spain). With extensive and successful career, acclaimed by critics and celebrated by the public, the author will discuss the creation of his work, characterised by masterful prose that blends psychological depth with satire and humour.

Eduardo Mendoza (Barcelona, 1943) studied Law and worked as a translator and interpreter for various international organizations before dedicating himself exclusively to writing. In 1975, he published La verdad sobre el caso Savolta (The Truth About the Savolta Case), which won the Critics' Prize. Since then, he has regularly published novels and occasionally theatre and essays. He has also contributed to the press. His latest novel is titled Tres enigmas para la organización (Three riddles for the organization). In 2016, he received the Cervantes Prize, and in 2025, the Princess of Asturias Award.
