The Alhambra Revealed
New book on the Alhambra to be launched by HE José María Rodríguez Coso, the Spanish Ambassador, on March 14th, at the Instituto Cervantes Dublin.
The Alhambra Revealed has just been published by Andalus Press of Dublin. It is written by Michael B. Barry, author of the acclaimed book on Islamic Spain, Homage to al-Andalus.
If you enter within the Alhambra in Granada for the first time, be prepared for a shock, it is almost a sensory overload. You have never seen anything like it. Within the walls and towers, there is a sprawling complex of graceful Nasrid palaces, which comprise together one of the jewels of World Heritage. This lavishly illustrated book gives a panoramic description of the Alhambra, written with a depth of knowledge and enthusiasm.
What makes this book unique is that Barry also gives the context: how the Alhambra came about - from the spread of Islam in Iberia to the evolution of Nasrid Granada.
Author and historian Michael B. Barry studied in Trinity College, Dublin. With a strong interest in history and heritage, he has written several books including Homage to al-Andalus, Victorian Dublin Revealed, and recently Courage Boys, We are Winning. An Illustrated History of the 1916 Rising.
In English. The launch will be followed by a wine and appetisers reception. The book could be purchased directly from the author after the event.
