Spectacular Rubens

Spectacular Rubens CEEH (Centro Europeo de Estudios Hispánicos)

Not only was Rubens an artist of extraordinary talent, he was also a man of great learning and a committed courtier and diplomat; and life rewarded him. He studied in Italy, travelled between the great courts of Europe, mixed with the greats of his time, had two happy marriages, enjoyed fame and earned large amounts of money. Living through an age of turmoil, his work bore witness to the values of a disappearing world through the vigour of his brushstrokes and the voluminous power and sheer vibrancy of his subjects.

Miguel Ángel Trujillo was awarded a degree in Cinematography in 1972 by Madrid's Official School of Cinematography (EOC). Since then, he has produced, shot and directed films, documentaries and commercials.

Lizzie Marx, Curator of Ducht and Flemish Art, National Gallery or Ireland, will introduce the film.
