We present an explanatory and illustrative workshop on the contribution of women artists to the field of performance art, spanning from the 1960s to the present day in Spain and Latin America, examined through a gender lens.
Many artists introduce changes and transform performances, addressing both the relationship with themselves and the body, and the situation of women within society, offering a plurality of approaches and lines of work.
The workshop will include a first part introducing performance art, its trends and approaches, as well as gender and feminist narratives. This will be followed by a second part involving the viewing of performative works and action art in audiovisual format, created by artists from different generations with significant careers. While some of these artists remain relatively unknown internationally today, others have been transcending borders for some time.
